About Dr. Baumann
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and a passionate advocate for improving mental health care for women and new parents (and parents-to-be).
I specialize in Reproductive Psychiatry, a growing field that focuses on treating mental health concerns at times of hormonal transition (related to the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause). Many psychiatrists and other mental health providers have limited training and comfort in these areas, so working with a specialist ensures you have access to expertise and optimal care at these important life stages.
Other areas of Reproductive Psychiatry and Women’s Mental Health I treat include the following:
Infertility, including navigating assisted reproductive technology (including IVF and IUI)
Miscarriage and pregnancy loss
Birth trauma
Pre-pregnancy planning (including counseling re: medications in pregnancy/nursing)
Transitioning into parenthood
Postpartum rage
Breastfeeding and mental health
Post-weaning depression
Mental health concerns related to GYN conditions, such as PCOS and endometriosis
Other life stage challenges unique to women or birthing people
I enjoy partnering with patients on these journeys and consider it an absolute privilege to do so. It can be incredibly difficult as a female patient in our healthcare system to feel heard as well as understood. Providing you with warm, responsive, and individualized care is my utmost goal.
I approach mental health care holistically, taking into consideration not only your emotional context, but also your physical, social, and relational health. These are all vital to understand and “treat” in order to improve your symptoms and quality of life.
My background and training
